Past & Present

Things I’m proud of + what I’m up to

What I’m up to.

I am a venture scout for Wildwood Ventures, a VC fund with a mission to build and invest in human focused technology businesses that bring life to the full.

What does this mean?
We build and invest in tech companies that solve for the challenges that technologies can create, such as loneliness and isolation, stress and anxiety, sedentary lifestyles and time indoors.

With this mission, our focus is on both B2B and B2C technology pre-seed, early stage startups that fall into five sub-thesis areas for investment:

Explore and move
: solutions focused on getting us outside

Improve my health: solutions focused on the democratization of health

Train to win: solutions focused on sports and performance

Connect with my people: online or in-person solutions that bring people together

Focus my mind and spirit: solutions focused on mental health

As a scout and former startup founder myself, I love meeting with founding teams that are pre-seed and at the earliest stages.

If you’re a founder looking for a strategic investor and are excited about having a venture studio team with seasoned operational and technology product development experience working in the trenches with you to accelerate speed to market, and your startup hits our thesis, hit me up - I’d love to hear what you’re working on.

Something I’m proud of.

Having a voice matters.

Giving back is super important to me.

I am passionate about encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit in high school and college students.

I am honored to be the focus of a Portland State University Business School first-of-its-kind case study that discusses my experiences as a second generation, Vietnamese American female entrepreneur navigating the world of venture finance and working to close the generational wealth gap.

I also continue to mentor business school and entrepreneurship students at the University of Portland, the University of Oregon Sports Product Management masters program, and Lewis and Clark Center for Entrepreneurship.

I am an advisor to BoxUnited, a Chicago-based 501(c)3 organization that provides a pathway for girls to unlock their fullest potential through the power of sport, namely boxing.

I advise the executive director on branding, marketing, fundraising/development strategy and program scalability.

Young women and girls today face unprecedented challenges - from access to sport (by age 14, girls drop out of sports 2x the rate of boys and 64% of girls will have quit sports by age 16-17); to body image and confidence issues and challenges; to mental health disorders and body image focused issues.

Through Box United's FIGHT LIKE A GIRL program, they help girls train to be fighters in life and sport by transforming them through programming encompassed through physical health and movement, self defense, leadership development and mentorship.

“Every great journey begins with a single step.”

This quote comes from one of Society Nine’s digital campaigns, and exemplifies the philosophy and mindset I bring to every team.

Taking calculated risks is where the greatest growth happens. Going into the unknown, solving hard problems or creating things that didn’t exist before is a challenge I always welcome.
